[grid_6 class=alpha]“Basically, we live to play music and we want to share it with as many people as possible.” — Cobey Rouse[/grid_6] A collaboration of Cobey Rouse, Shannon Frid (of Cloud Cult) and Eric Carranza, batteryboy has a way of mixing soothing melodies with pulsing beats to create a unpretentious, orchestrated blend.  While the guitar is comforting, the drums produce an anxiety ridden anticipation.  This is music that inspires others to write.

Batteryboy is currently recording at Flowers Studio.  They anticipate releasing the first single in March and the album in June.  While you wait, you can download earlier releases on Bandcamp and ReverbNation.

The Lyrics of Winter’s Gate paint a violently beautiful picture of “you and me against the world”.  The song is soothing in its depiction of togetherness while leaving the listener uneasy about the coming storm.

Symptoms is probably my favorite batteryboy song.  The background vocals add an interesting dimension and depth.  Like most of their music, it evokes mixed emotions. I feel as if I am staring down a deep ravine, contemplating the meaning of life while fearing a possible fall — maybe even a jump.
