After 15 years of broadcasting and interviewing local music, I have decided to close down SiaNet Radio on Jan 1st, 2017. Fifteen years of 24/7 music and interviews — that’s approximately 131,400 hours of local Minnesota music broadcast around the globe!!  It’s been a wonderful journey.  I have met and worked with so many talented artists and amazing people. I wouldn’t change that for the world.

Currently we have 17 independently run shows generated in-house and have had as many as 23 at a time.  All of these shows were hosted, created and run by local musicians and artists who featured and supported local music the way only contemporaries could. SiaNet Radio had an insight into local music like none other, because we were the artists. I consider the accomplishments of this 15 year run, a success. We proved that you don’t need millions of dollars or quarterly fund drives to compete in sound quality or quality of music.  We undoubtedly illustrated that DJs and hosts with enough passion for music can match those with official training.  The people running shows on SiaNet have so much love for music that almost every single show has been running for multiple years and not one of us has profited a dime……unless you count free music, which was ALWAYS appreciated.  Everyone affiliated with SiaNet currently and in the past will always have a special place in my heart and I thank you for all the amazing times we’ve had together.

The unfortunate side-effect of a growing organization is that eventually it outgrows its creator. For several years now, I’ve been facing the fact that do not have the hours in the day or the dollars in the bank to continue on my own. Over the years, SiaNet has come to dominate my life — often getting in the way of my own musical aspirations and time with my family.

So, it is with a heavy, but determined heart, that I am saying goodbye to this chapter of my life. On January 1, 2017, we will cease broadcasting. I still intend to be an active part of this unequalled community of talented musicians. It is just time for me to do it from another direction.

You are not without a local radio option. Please support the Local Current as much as it supports you. I hope you give them as much love as you have given me over the years.

Thank you to everyone of our listeners; and especially thank you to all the talented people who have contributed to this wonderful era.
